A Different Path

There are moments in life that force you to slow down.

For me, that moment came unexpectedly while we were on vacation in Michigan. My son Luka's appendix ruptured, and everything stopped.

As a parent, there's nothing like seeing your child in that situation. It puts everything into perspective, fast.

Sitting there, waiting, thinking… I had time I normally don't have. Time to reflect. Time to really look at what our day-to-day life had become.

And what stood out most wasn't the fear or the worry. It was time—or more accurately, the lack of it.

Between school, sports, and work, our lives were running on a rigid schedule, like so many families. Wake up early. School all day. Quick turnaround. Practice. Homework. Repeat.

Busy… but not always intentional.

And I started asking myself a question I think a lot of parents feel but don't always say out loud:

Are we actually developing our kids… or just keeping them moving?

That moment stuck with me. I don't believe moments like that happen by accident.

It felt like more than a wake-up call. It felt like I was being pushed to look at things differently—to step back and question whether the path we were on was really the best one for our kids.

Especially for the ones who are driven. The ones who want more. The ones who need the right environment, the right mentorship, and the time to actually grow.

Not every child is meant to follow the same path. Some kids need something different.

And the reality is, not every family has access to the resources, the connections, or the flexibility to create that path on their own.

That's where Faith & Freedom Academy came from.

Not as a replacement for schools. Not as a "program." But as a way to support families who know their child needs more—by connecting them with the right coaches, mentors, and opportunities, and by creating access through scholarships.

We're starting small. Intentionally. A handful of families. A handful of coaches. Doing it the right way before trying to grow.

This isn't about building something big overnight. It's about building something that actually works—for the families who feel it, for the kids who need it, and for the parents who are willing to take a step back and ask:

Is there a better way?

For us, that question changed everything. And this is just the beginning.
